Reflections
Singing a song of praise should always be our response to when God delivers us from a horrible circumstance. The Psalmist here is praising God for being so faithful to consistently be a source of rescue.
What is your response when God gives you victory over a trying time? Praising God is something that we should be exercising and living in our hearts each and everyday. Learning to exercise a heart that is filled with joy and gratitude allows for us to also live out an attitude of being content.
The nation of Israel was constantly being challenged with learning to remember all that God has done for them and being greatful for all that He’s done. He delivered them countless times from their enemies and forgave them each time they fell away from sin.
In the same way God has also delivered us from eternal punishment and death by dying on the cross and forgiving us of our sin. Let us always remember just how far Christ went to pay the ultimate act of deliverance and sacrifice. As the Pslamist praised “O sing to the LORD a new song, for he has done marvelous things” so we too should praise Him daily.
