Daily Bible Reading Devotional [Psalm98] – October 15, 2016

Psalm 98

98:1 O sing to the LORD a new song, for he has done marvelous things. His right hand and his holy arm have gotten him victory.

98:2 The LORD has made known his victory; he has revealed his vindication in the sight of the nations.

98:3 He has remembered his steadfast love and faithfulness to the house of Israel. All the ends of the earth have seen the victory of our God.

98:4 Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth; break forth into joyous song and sing praises.

98:5 Sing praises to the LORD with the lyre, with the lyre and the sound of melody.

98:6 With trumpets and the sound of the horn make a joyful noise before the King, the LORD.

98:7 Let the sea roar, and all that fills it; the world and those who live in it.

98:8 Let the floods clap their hands; let the hills sing together for joy

98:9 at the presence of the LORD, for he is coming to judge the earth. He will judge the world with righteousness, and the peoples with equity.

Lydia.jpgJust recently, my husband and I experienced a major reason to be joyful and rejoice. However, when I started to think about my life and all that God has done for me, rejoicing and singing praise to God should be a normal part of our every day lives. God is always on the move looking to work for us and blessing us in sometimes ways that we might know even know about. Whether it is through a hard trial or even a joyful occasion, God is always giving us a reason to turn and thank Him for His love, protecting and goodness.

For the past few months, I have been struggling to find joy in the midst of what still is a hard circumstance. However, with the recent news of my situation turning around, even though it might be small, I found myself being filled with so much joy and relief. God is never looking to fill the life of His children with sadness and despair. His intention is to always work for our good and our response should be to love, praise and find joy in Him.

Justin-Holmes1.jpgWhen I think of all that God has done in my life it is hard not to rejoice. He has blessed me beyond anything i could even have imagined. Yet, I view things from an earthy lens. The Psalmist rightly pointed out some of attributes of God which should also cause us to rejoice.

  • God has done marvelous things (including creating us)
  • His love is steadfast
  • He is always faithful
  • He is righteous and coming to judge each accordingly

While I may be the musical type I can appreciate the words of the Psalmist. We should be praise the Lord for all that He has done and who He is.
