Scripture Reading(s)

Psalm 84:1-7

84:1 How lovely is your dwelling place, O LORD of hosts!

84:2 My soul longs, indeed it faints for the courts of the LORD; my heart and my flesh sing for joy to the living God.

84:3 Even the sparrow finds a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, at your altars, O LORD of hosts, my King and my God.

84:4 Happy are those who live in your house, ever singing your praise. Selah

84:5 Happy are those whose strength is in you, in whose heart are the highways to Zion.

84:6 As they go through the valley of Baca they make it a place of springs; the early rain also covers it with pools.

84:7 They go from strength to strength; the God of gods will be seen in Zion.

Reflections

Lydia.jpgWe all long and search for a place that we can call home. Home is a place in which we feel safe, wanted and secure. It is a place of true comfort and rest, a means in which we can escape our days frustrations and worries and take a break from life’s hectic daily routines.

This Psalm speaks to a home in which we can truly find our true rest, that is in the presence and loving arms of our God. In Him we can find joy, strength, peace and comfort. In Him we are able to bring the days struggles, life’s worries and leave them at His feet knowing that He is in full control of all that goes in our lives.

Sometimes life can become so overwhelming and the burdens too hard to carry. Thankfully we live under a God who has saved nations, created the world in that we live in, and has gone as far as cheating death and saving us from eternal punishment. That is a God in which we can come to with confidence knowing that He is there to bring us the strength we need to face anything in life.
