Scripture Reading(s)

Isaiah 66:10-14

66:10 Rejoice with Jerusalem, and be glad for her, all you who love her; rejoice with her in joy, all you who mourn over her–

66:11 that you may nurse and be satisfied from her consoling breast; that you may drink deeply with delight from her glorious bosom.

66:12 For thus says the LORD: I will extend prosperity to her like a river, and the wealth of the nations like an overflowing stream; and you shall nurse and be carried on her arm, and dandled on her knees.

66:13 As a mother comforts her child, so I will comfort you; you shall be comforted in Jerusalem.

66:14 You shall see, and your heart shall rejoice; your bodies shall flourish like the grass; and it shall be known that the hand of the LORD is with his servants, and his indignation is against his enemies.

Reflections

Lydia.jpgThe Lord promises peace to all those who are His. To the righteous He promises a life of abundant peace but to those who oppose Him, only wrath awaits them.

The nation of Isreal was Gods chosen people. He loved and cared for them. His desire was to see them grow into a nation that honored and feared Him.

We too are Gods chosen people if we make the choice to follow after Him. He also desires for us to lead lives that will reflect Him and give Glory to Him. The promise of peace is also extended to us.

The peace of God is not like anything that the world has to offer. This peace entails a calmness in life’s storms, assurance that we will not fall apart and a reminder that God is in complete control.

Verse 13 sums up this idea even more so. God will bring comfort to His children and will deliver them from any situation that we face. Let us come to the throne of Grace and lay aside anything that is hindering us from believing that Gods peace can surpass any and all hard situations that we face.
