Reflections
Know that the LORD is God. It is he that made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
The Psalmist is declaring a truth that is hard to remember at times which is that we are His children and that He is our Father and Shepherd. We are not in charge of things and that is a good thing. God created a vast pasture where He placed His people and He is the protector of them. He is the giver and sustainer. He is the protector and the shelter in the storm. When we stray He still loves us and goes off to find us.
Do not worry about this day and the next. God is our shepherd and He will not let you go.
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? (Matthew 6:25-27)
We are God’s children and chosen people. From the time that He created us and sent us son to die for our sins, He claimed us as His own and He wants us to live each day experiencing His blessing and work in our lives. We serve a God who loves us unconditionally and is always moving to bring about the very best for our lives.
He took the time to create each and every one of us. He formed not only our physical bodies but also our personality traits and the unique things that make up who we are. He knows our thoughts and fears and because He knows us so well we can trust that when we come to Him with our worries, fears and praises that He hears them.
Let us take comfort in knowing that as our creator, He can bring us comfort, peace, joy and rest and meet us at the point of our need. Let us praise Him for lovingly crafting us into His children and take delight in a close walk Him.
