Scripture Reading(s)

Psalm 33:12-22

33:12 Happy is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people whom he has chosen as his heritage.

33:13 The LORD looks down from heaven; he sees all humankind.

33:14 From where he sits enthroned he watches all the inhabitants of the earth–

33:15 he who fashions the hearts of them all, and observes all their deeds.

33:16 A king is not saved by his great army; a warrior is not delivered by his great strength.

33:17 The war horse is a vain hope for victory, and by its great might it cannot save.

33:18 Truly the eye of the LORD is on those who fear him, on those who hope in his steadfast love,

33:19 to deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.

33:20 Our soul waits for the LORD; he is our help and shield.

33:21 Our heart is glad in him, because we trust in his holy name.

33:22 Let your steadfast love, O LORD, be upon us, even as we hope in you.

Reflections

Lydia.jpgHow awesome it is to know that we live under Gods loving and protective rule. It brings comfort and peace to know that we are always being watched by our Heavenly Father.

It is both a blessing and a warning to know that our God sees all. We know that no harm can come to us because our Lord is watching. However, we also know that we can’t get away with sin becaus nothing escapes Him.

As Christians, our goal should always be to strive hard to live righteous lives and be a light to those around us. Our hope rests in the promise of verse 22″ Let your steadfast love, O LORD, be upon us, even as we hope in you.”

“A king is not saved by his great army; a warrior is not delivered by his great strength. The war horse is a vain hope for victory, and by its great might it cannot save. Truly the eye of the LORD is on those who fear him”

Everyday we wake up and we make one of two choices. The first choice is to put our day and our lives in God’s hands. The second choice is to trust our lives in our own hands or the hands of others. The Psalmist who wrote Psalm 33 was well aware that no amount of power or prestige can compare with the hand of God.

Do you want to live each day to it’s fullest? If so, you must place your faith in the Lord, not in the things that this world says we need for security. God causes the kings to both rise and fall. When God acts the creation obeys. Nothing we can muster up on this earth will ever be able to contend with the might power of God.
