Psalm 93
93:1 The LORD is king, he is robed in majesty; the LORD is robed, he is girded with strength. He has established the world; it shall never be moved;
93:2 your throne is established from of old; you are from everlasting.
93:3 The floods have lifted up, O LORD, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their roaring.
93:4 More majestic than the thunders of mighty waters, more majestic than the waves of the sea, majestic on high is the LORD!
93:5 Your decrees are very sure; holiness befits your house, O LORD, forevermore.
Reflections
God is creator and ruler over all. This Psalm declares that there is nothing that is above God’s power and authority over this world. Creation itself speaks to God’s majesty and Glory.
Whenever you think about God’s power, there might be a couple of pictures that come to mind. Perhaps you picture a sky full of stars, an wide open ocean, thundering winds and pouring rain. Whatever it is, God is all these things and more. His majesty shines brighter then any other star. His love for us is bigger then any ocean. His power trumps the strongest winds and heaviest rain. He is ruler and king over all.
This picture of God’s authority even over nature, reminds me of the account in Matthew 8:23-27, when Jesus calmed the stormy seas that was threatening the lives of His disciples. At the end of that passage the disciples were amazed at His power: “And the men marveled, saying, “What sort of man is this, that even winds and sea obey him?” (Matthew 8:27).
This picture of God’s ultimate authority over the entire earth gives us so much hope and peace. He looks after the big and small details of our lives. We never have to worry or have fear because He is always looking after us and because everything that happens in this world is only done if He allows it too. We can take comfort in knowing that the God who rules over the wind and rain also is the same God who loves and takes care of His children.
Let us always take the time to praise the one whose love and power has no limits and is always there to lead and guide His children,
Indescribable, uncontainable,
