Scripture Reading(s)
John 16:12-15
16:12 “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.
16:13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth; for he will not speak on his own, but will speak whatever he hears, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.
16:14 He will glorify me, because he will take what is mine and declare it to you.
16:15 All that the Father has is mine. For this reason I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you.
Reflections
“He will glorify me, because he will take what is mine and declare it to you”
What is the purpose of the Spirit? Many would say the Spirit is given to lead us and guide us which would be true. Many would also day that we are given the Spirit to do miraculous works in God’s name which would also be true. But on a deeper level we have to understand that the greatness manifested in the Spirit, through us, is to bring glory to God.
We are not to walk in the Spirit for only ourselves but to glorify the Lord. We would be wrong to assume that the work of the Spirit revolves around us. We were designed to serve the Lord and to bring all people to His grace, this is the work of the Spirit also.
