I know it might be long, and boring, and possibly a little strange, but here are 5 reasons that might change your mind about the OT being boring.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.dustoffthebible.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/adam-and-eve-small.jpg\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff; text-decoration: underline;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-762\" title=\"adam and eve small\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.dustoffthebible.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/adam-and-eve-small-150x150.jpg\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dustoffthebible.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/adam-and-eve-small-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/dustoffthebible.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/adam-and-eve-small-240x240.jpg 240w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/span><\/a>1. Nudity (Genesis 2:5)<br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong>That&#8217;s right. The very beginning of the Bible starts on a controversial note; two people running around naked, eating fruit, and God commanded them to have lots of sex. I can see now why this was called paradise!<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>2. Crazy Sex and Role Play (Genesis 38)<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nWhen Judah saw her, he thought she was a prostitute,\u00a0for she had covered her face.\u00a0<sup>16\u00a0<\/sup>Not realizing\u00a0that she was his daughter-in-law,\u00a0he went over to her by the roadside and said, \u201cCome now, let me sleep with you.\u201d\u00a0\u201cAnd what will you give me to sleep with you?\u201d\u00a0she asked.\u00a0<sup>17\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cI\u2019ll send you a young goat\u00a0from my flock,\u201d he said.\u00a0\u201cWill you give me something as a pledge\u00a0until you send it?\u201d she asked.\u00a0<sup>18\u00a0<\/sup>He said, \u201cWhat pledge should I give you?\u201d\u00a0\u201cYour seal\u00a0and its cord, and the staff\u00a0in your hand,\u201d she answered. So he gave them to her and slept with her, and she became pregnant by him.\u00a0<sup>19\u00a0<\/sup>After she left, she took off her veil and put on her widow\u2019s clothes\u00a0again.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">3<\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>. Family Feuding (Nearly every passage of the OT)<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span>Like Jerry Springer? Then you will love the book of Genesis and probably Samuel &#8211; Kings. Not convinced? Take a gander at these gems&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Genesis 4: \u00a0Cain VS. Abel.\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<em><sup>8\u00a0<\/sup>Now Cain said to his brother Abel, \u201cLet\u2019s go out to the field.\u201d\u00a0While they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him.\u00a0<sup>9\u00a0<\/sup>Then the\u00a0Lord\u00a0said to Cain, \u201cWhere is your brother Abel?\u201d\u00a0\u201cI don\u2019t know,\u00a0\u201d he replied. \u201cAm I my brother\u2019s keeper?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Genesis 29-30: Baby Wars<br \/>\n<\/strong><em><sup>31\u00a0<\/sup>When the\u00a0Lord\u00a0saw that Leah was not loved,\u00a0he enabled her to conceive,\u00a0but Rachel remained childless.\u00a0<sup>32\u00a0<\/sup>Leah became pregnant and gave birth to a son.\u00a0She named him Reuben,\u00a0for she said, \u201cIt is because the\u00a0Lord\u00a0has seen my misery.\u00a0Surely my husband will love me now.\u201d\u00a0<sup>33\u00a0<\/sup>She conceived again, and when she gave birth to a son she said, \u201cBecause the\u00a0Lord\u00a0heard that I am not loved,\u00a0he gave me this one too.\u201d So she named him Simeon.\u00a0<sup>34\u00a0<\/sup>Again she conceived, and when she gave birth to a son she said, \u201cNow at last my husband will become attached to me,\u00a0because I have borne him three sons.\u201d So he was named Levi.\u00a0<sup>35\u00a0<\/sup>She conceived again, and when she gave birth to a son she said, \u201cThis time I will praise the\u00a0Lord.\u201d So she named him Judah.\u00a0Then she stopped having children.\u00a0When Rachel saw that she was not bearing Jacob any children,\u00a0she became jealous of her sister.\u00a0So she said to Jacob, \u201cGive me children, or I\u2019ll die!\u201d\u00a0<sup>2\u00a0<\/sup>Jacob became angry with her and said, \u201cAm I in the place of God,\u00a0who has kept you from having children?\u201d\u00a0<sup>3\u00a0<\/sup>Then she said, \u201cHere is Bilhah,\u00a0my servant.\u00a0Sleep with her so that she can bear children for me and I too can build a family through her.\u201d\u00a0<sup>4\u00a0<\/sup>So she gave him her servant Bilhah as a wife.\u00a0Jacob slept with her,\u00a0<sup>5\u00a0<\/sup>and she became pregnant and bore him a son.\u00a0<sup>6\u00a0<\/sup>Then Rachel said, \u201cGod has vindicated me;\u00a0he has listened to my plea and given me a son.\u201d\u00a0Because of this she named him Dan.\u00a0<sup>7\u00a0<\/sup>Rachel\u2019s servant Bilhah\u00a0conceived again and bore Jacob a second son.\u00a0<sup>8\u00a0<\/sup>Then Rachel said, \u201cI have had a great struggle with my sister, and I have won.\u201d\u00a0So she named him Naphtali.\u00a0<sup>9\u00a0<\/sup>When Leah\u00a0saw that she had stopped having children,\u00a0she took her servant Zilpah\u00a0and gave her to Jacob as a wife.\u00a0<sup>10\u00a0<\/sup>Leah\u2019s servant Zilpah\u00a0bore Jacob a son.\u00a0<sup>11\u00a0<\/sup>Then Leah said, \u201cWhat good fortune!\u201d\u00a0So she named him Gad.\u00a0<sup>12\u00a0<\/sup>Leah\u2019s servant Zilpah bore Jacob a second son.\u00a0<sup>13\u00a0<\/sup>Then Leah said, \u201cHow happy I am! The women will call me\u00a0happy.\u201d\u00a0So she named him Asher.\u00a0<sup>14\u00a0<\/sup>During wheat harvest,\u00a0Reuben went out into the fields and found some mandrake plants,\u00a0which he brought to his mother Leah. Rachel said to Leah, \u201cPlease give me some of your son\u2019s mandrakes.\u201d\u00a0<sup>15\u00a0<\/sup>But she said to her, \u201cWasn\u2019t it enough\u00a0that you took away my husband? Will you take my son\u2019s mandrakes too?\u201d\u00a0\u201cVery well,\u201d Rachel said, \u201che can sleep with you tonight in return for your son\u2019s mandrakes.\u201d\u00a0<sup>16\u00a0<\/sup>So when Jacob came in from the fields that evening, Leah went out to meet him. \u201cYou must sleep with me,\u201d she said. \u201cI have hired you with my son\u2019s mandrakes.\u201d\u00a0So he slept with her that night.\u00a0<sup>17\u00a0<\/sup>God listened to Leah,\u00a0and she became pregnant and bore Jacob a fifth son.\u00a0<sup>18\u00a0<\/sup>Then Leah said, \u201cGod has rewarded me for giving my servant to my husband.\u201d\u00a0So she named him Issachar.\u00a0<sup>19\u00a0<\/sup>Leah conceived again and bore Jacob a sixth son.\u00a0<sup>20\u00a0<\/sup>Then Leah said, \u201cGod has presented me with a precious gift. This time my husband will treat me with honor,\u00a0because I have borne him six sons.\u201d So she named him Zebulun.\u00a0<sup>21\u00a0<\/sup>Some time later she gave birth to a daughter and named her Dinah.\u00a0<sup>22\u00a0<\/sup>Then God remembered Rachel;\u00a0he listened to her\u00a0and enabled her to conceive.\u00a0<sup>23\u00a0<\/sup>She became pregnant and gave birth to a son\u00a0and said, \u201cGod has taken away my disgrace.\u201d\u00a0<sup>24\u00a0<\/sup>She named him Joseph,\u00a0and said, \u201cMay the\u00a0Lord\u00a0add to me another son.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">4. Alcohol &#8230;. and more sex (Genesis 19)<\/span><br \/>\n<\/strong><em><sup>30\u00a0<\/sup>Lot and his two daughters left Zoar\u00a0and settled in the mountains,\u00a0for he was afraid to stay in Zoar. He and his two daughters lived in a cave.\u00a0<sup>31\u00a0<\/sup>One day the older daughter said to the younger, \u201cOur father is old, and there is no man around here to give us children\u2014as is the custom all over the earth.\u00a0<sup>32\u00a0<\/sup>Let\u2019s get our father to drink wine and then sleep with him and preserve our family line\u00a0through our father.\u201d\u00a0<sup>33\u00a0<\/sup>That night they got their father to drink wine, and the older daughter went in and slept with him. He was not aware of it when she lay down or when she got up.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">5. Violence (pretty much the entire OT)<br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong><sup><strong>Judges 3:20-23<\/strong><br \/>\n20<em>\u00a0<\/em><\/sup><em>Ehud then approached him while he was sitting alone in the upper room of his palace<\/em><span style=\"font-style: italic; font-size: 11px;\">\u00a0<\/span><em>and said, \u201cI have a message from God for you.\u201d As the king rose\u00a0from his seat,\u00a0<\/em><sup style=\"font-style: italic;\">21\u00a0<\/sup><em>Ehud reached with his left hand, drew the sword\u00a0from his right thigh and plunged it into the king\u2019s belly.\u00a0<\/em><sup style=\"font-style: italic;\">22\u00a0<\/sup><em>Even the handle sank in after the blade, and his bowels discharged.
