However, it&#8217;s entirely possible that they are two different events.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span id=\"en-ESV-23719\" class=\"text Matt-17-19\"><sup class=\"versenum\">19\u00a0<\/sup>Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, \u201cWhy could we not cast it out?\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-ESV-23720\" class=\"text Matt-17-20\"><sup class=\"versenum\">20\u00a0<\/sup>He said to them,\u00a0<span class=\"woj\">\u201cBecause of your little faith. For\u00a0truly, I say to you,\u00a0if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed,\u00a0you will say to this mountain, \u2018Move from here to there,\u2019 and it will move, and\u00a0nothing will be impossible for you.<strong> (Matthew 17:19-20)<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The passage has more than enough uniqueness to be separate event. However, the scenarios depict the same core issue. The apostles lacked faith. Moreover, they were expecting Jesus to increase their faith for them; like some kind of genie. But that is not the way it works. Faith is not a substance or commodity to be taken and given. It&#8217;s internal to all of us. It is up to us to place the faith, that lies within us, in the Lord.
