\nfor understanding words of insight;

\ndoing what is right and just and fair;

\nknowledge and discretion\u00a0to the young\u2014

\nand let the discerning get guidance\u2014
\n6<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>for understanding proverbs and parables,
\nthe sayings and riddles\u00a0of the wise.
\n7<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>The fear of the\u00a0Lord<\/span>\u00a0is the beginning of knowledge,
\n\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/span>but fools\u00a0despise wisdom\u00a0and instruction.<\/span><\/p>\n

The proverbs of the scriptures start with a simple message. That message is that everyone should be reading\/hearing the wisdom of God and applying it to their lives. Both the wise and simple are to take in the wisdom of the Lord. The first section of scripture given ends with an often repeated phrase, “the fear of the Lord is the beginning of all knowledge.” Simply put, even the wisdom of the scriptures needs to be preceded with the fear (and respect) of the Lord.<\/p>\n
The culture that the Lord wanted to maintain with His children was one of constant learning so that they could be be a true light in the darkness. How often do we open the scriptures and just read and learn? Do we assume that it’s out pastor’s job to teach us? As children of God we should be soaking in the wisdom of God. We should be planting it firmly in our hearts. In an era where virtually everyone can read and everyone has a Bible, do not neglect your opportunity bury the wisdom of the ages in your heart and mind.<\/p>\n
