This is more true of pastors than those training for PhD programs.Here is one of the many passages that seems to get translated from Greek to English with some level of difficulty. Take a look!<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>John 6:27<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u2022 . . . for on Him the Father, even God, has set His\u00a0seal\u201d (NASB).<br \/>\n\u2022. . . because God the Father has set His seal on Him\u201d\u00a0(NKJV).<br \/>\n\u2022 For on him God the Father has set his seal\u201d (ESV).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>These are slightly different, but the text is stable.<br \/>\nNow look at how dynamic equivalent translations have rendered<br \/>\nthe statement:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u2022 On him God the Father has placed his seal of\u00a0approval\u201d (NIV, TNIV).<br \/>\n\u2022 . . . for on him God the Father has set the seal of his\u00a0authority\u201d (REB).<br \/>\n\u2022 . . . because God the Father has given him the right\u00a0to do so\u201d (CEV).<br \/>\n\u2022 For God the Father has sent me for that very purpose\u201d\u00a0(NLT).<br \/>\n\u2022 He and what he does are guaranteed by God the\u00a0Father to last\u201d (The Message).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>So how differently difficult passages can be translated?<\/p>\n<p>Thus, I do not believe the discussion should be a dead one just yet.
