His word is a direct communication to us, it is there to help lead, guide and sustain us every single day. As Christians we should strive hard to train ourselves to constantly be immersed in God’s word and as result it will become easier to remember important truths that we need in our lives.

There will be days when sin takes over, doubt creeps in, anxiety causes us to fall. It is through a deep understanding and meditating of God’s word that will help equip us when it comes to facing these things. The enemy is always on the prowl to bring down the children of God. However, we can find our true defense and security through the promises that God’s word has in store for us.

This is a Psalm that helps us embrace the truth and power of God’s word. Make a choice to make it real and true in your life each single day.

The prophet Amos used the phrase “seek God and live”, referring to the disobedience of the Israelites. Amos’ generation largely moved away from the laws and commands of the Lord. As a result their society became corrupted and most need in their nation were being abused. The story of Amos is a demonstration of what happens when God’s commands are ignored.

However, the Psalmist points out that God’s commands lead to life and truth and righteousness.

….your law is the truth. Trouble and anguish have come upon me, but your commandments are my delight. Your decrees are righteous forever; give me understanding that I may live.

We are living under the new covenant and no longer need to follow the law given to Moses. But the New Testament contains a new law, one of love written on our hearts. If we follow the model Jesus laid out for us then we will be lead to abundant life. We will have the living water He spoke of to the woman at the well.
