Daily Bible Reading Devotional [Psalm 1]-January 13, 2017

Scripture Reading(s)

Psalm 1

1:1 Happy are those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or take the path that sinners tread, or sit in the seat of scoffers;

1:2 but their delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law they meditate day and night.

1:3 They are like trees planted by streams of water, which yield their fruit in its season, and their leaves do not wither. In all that they do, they prosper.

1:4 The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away.

1:5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous;

1:6 for the LORD watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.

Reflections

Lydia.jpgWhen we choose to live the life of our Christian faith that truly represents Christ, we experience a joy and hope that nothing else in this world can give us. This passage is a reflection of one who is daily pursuing holiness and righteous living. As a result of pursuing a life that honors Christ, we then have a firm foundation in which our faith cannot be shaken or moved.

Compared to one who chooses not to follow after Christ, our lives are constantly producing growth and evidence of a life that loves Christ. Those who are choosing to live sin, the result of their lives are unstable, unbalanced and are easily swayed by different ideologies and messages that the world has to offer them.

The last verse is both a promise and warning. For those who love God with their whole hearts, God will honor for those who do not, they will be forever separated from God. He honors those who match their claims of loving Him with living for Him. Praise God for the hope we have in Him and daily pursue loving Him with your life each day.
